2:30 PMThis afternoon hymn-sing will offer a select program of psalms, hymns and spiritual songs that draw on biblical imagery of God and Christ as Shepherd; will offer a chance to sing favorite hymns (from the church's pew hymnalsee list of contents) requested by the participants, and will also celebrate the 150th anniversaries of two hymnwriters' births:
Katharine Lee BatesKatharine Lee Bates, who wrote America the Beautiful, and Carl Gustav Boberg, who wrote the Swedish poem that How Great Thou Art was based on.
Carl BobergIf you love to sing hymns, come sing with us! If you know others who do, invite them to join us. This hymn-sing is intended for all who love to sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to our Lord, the Good Shepherd. Here is a link to the flyer, which can be freely copied and distributed to any and all who may be interested.
The hymn-sing will be emceed by Leland Bryant Ross, who organized the event and selected the hymns in the list below. Piano and organ accompaniments will be provided by Fremont Baptist's "maestro" Verne M. Eke, and guitar accompaniments will be offered by the church's worship leader, Marc Walter. There will be an intermission partway through the program, and light refreshments will be offered.
Admission is free. A collection will be taken to support, through the Evergreen Baptist Association (a Region of ABCUSA), the homeless ministries of SHARE/WHEEL Tent Cities.
We hope you will join us for this making of a joyful noise unto the Lord!
